EASTERN INTER-CLUB SKI LEAGUE
As a Hawk, you will also be a member of the Eastern Inter-Club Ski League a.k.a. EICSL, a small group of ski clubs which united in the 1950's to provide a vehicle for organized recreational racing under the Eastern division of the United States Ski Association. Since that time it has evolved into an organization that balances the interests of BOTH racing and recreational skiers, and non-skiers as well. EICSL promotes cooperation between its member clubs on races and a year long calendar of social events. This allows the member clubs to provide an economic way for skiers to participate in their sport and meet a lot of fellow skiers. At present, EICSL is made up of approximately 30 clubs with roughly 1,900 members. Most of the clubs have houses situated in the North Conway area.
As
well as the winter sports, there is also Summer Club. Traditionally,
three EICSL clubs, including the Hawks, make their houses available
to EICSL members and guests for the various activities that take place
in the valley during the summer season. The main events take place
on the three holiday weekends, Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day
and include volleyball, tubing, mountain biking, hiking, golfing etc.
